The Half Moon in Herne Hill is holding a free Christmas Showcase on Thursday 1 October, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, with live Christmas music from Rufus Quickenden and food and bubbles from the pub’s Christmas menus.
Entry is free. The pub’s poster calls the evening “a celebration of music, community & Christmas spirit”.
Ann-Marie, the hotel and events manager at the pub on Half Moon Lane, told Dulwich Today the evening is meant for the neighbourhood as much as anyone:
“We’re putting on the live music as a way of bringing people together locally and creating a nice community gathering.”
Music, food and bubbles
Rufus Quickenden plays live Christmas music through the evening. The pub is serving food and bubbles from its Christmas menus, which are on its Christmas page for anyone who wants to see what is being cooked before they go.
The building on the corner of Half Moon Lane carries “Est. 1896” above its windows, and the pub describes itself as having “such a long history in the local community”.

The pub is also holding a free Macmillan Coffee Morning on Tuesday 17 November, 10am to 12 noon, with singalongs from Baz & Dave, cake and a raffle for Macmillan Cancer Support. Ann-Marie says local pop-ups and community events are to follow, including choirs in December.
